3-Day Desert Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga
Explore the magical Moroccan desert on this 3-day tour from Marrakech to Merzouga. This journey will take you through some of the most stunning landscapes in Morocco, including the breathtaking Atlas Mountains, the lush palm groves of the Draa Valley, and the golden dunes of the Sahara Desert.
About this Activity
Departing from Marrakech at 7am, we cross the Atlas Mountains, stopping occasionally to take photos and enjoy the beautiful landscapes. We visit the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a 16th-century fortress classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Many national and international films have been shot there, including Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, and Kingdom of Heaven. Free time for lunch. We continue to Ouarzazate, then head to the Rose Valley and Dades Valley. Dinner and overnight stay in the Dades Gorges.
After breakfast, we head to Tinghir and visit the Todra Gorges, before continuing our journey through the Ziz Valley to the town of Erfoud. From there, we continue to Merzouga (Erg Chebbi). At the hostel, after a welcome mint tea, a camel ride takes us to the tents where we will spend the night, enjoying the stunning view of the dunes and the magnificent sunset along the way. After a delicious dinner, you will have the opportunity to attend a traditional Berber music show under the moonlight and starry sky.
We wake up early in the morning to witness the sunrise. We return to the lodge on our camels where we have breakfast. It’s time to head back to Marrakech, but before we do, we will visit the city of Rissani, the origin of the current Alaouite dynasty ruling in Morocco. On our way back, we pass through Alnif, Tinghir, Dades, the Valley of Roses, Ouarzazate, cross the Atlas Mountains again, and around 7:00 pm, we arrive in Marrakech.
